English band Simply Red have added an extra date to their New Zealand tour, confirming they will play at the Bowl of Brooklands in New Zealand this summer.
The group is in New Zealand to perform three concerts and will be on stage at New Plymouth's TSB Bowl of Brooklands on Friday, February 13.
Fronted by flame-haired singer Mick Hucknall, Simply Red have been performing together for 25 years and hits to their name include Money's Too Tight to Mention, Holding Back the Years, If You Don't Know Me By Now and Something Got Me Started.
The Bowl of Brooklands concert is part of a world tour promoting Simply Red's greatest hits album, which will be released next month.
The other New Zealand concerts are at Napier's Church Road Winery and at the Villa Maria Estate in Auckland.
New Plymouth District Council manager business developments and events Garry Sharpe-Young said the concert would be a great show for the whole family. "I think it's the right kind of act for the Bowl."
He said the promoter bringing Simply Red here brought Jack Johnson to the Bowl earlier this year and had been impressed by the venue.
"That was Johnson's biggest ever New Zealand crowd, the artist loved it and the promoter wanted to come back to the Bowl."
Simply Red will be supported by New Zealand singer Hollie Smith.
While Mr Sharpe-Young refused to give any details, he said people could expect more announcements for the Bowl this summer at a later date.
Last month American music legend Stevie Wonder cancelled his scheduled November 1 Bowl concert because of commitments in the United States for the presidential election.
Tickets to the Simply Red concert go on sale next week through Ticketek.
