The Wiggles - that colourful, skivvy wearing Aussie quartet - have pencilled in New Zealand for their last worldwide gig to farewell 21 years of performing.

The four - Anthony, Murray, Greg and Jeff - will return to NZ for 11 shows in September for the Celebration Tour as part of their final world tour together.

"We've been entertaining children around the world for 21 years and it's important that we plan for the future so that The Wiggles can keep wiggling in the years to come," said Murray.

It has been a long wait for loyal Wiggly fans this side of the Tasman who have not seen their idols for 18 months.

The national tour - loaded with all time spectacular big hits such as Hot Potato, Getting Strong, Rock A Bye Your Bear and Toot Toot Chugga Chugga - will give fans a last chance to say farewell to Jeff, Anthony, Murray and Greg as well as Dorothy the Dinosaur, Captain Feathersword, Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus and the world famous Wiggly dancers.

At the end of the year three Wiggles - Jeff, Murray and Greg - will hand over their purple, red and yellow skivvies to the next generation of Wiggles, and embark on backstage creative roles.

Luckily Anthony, the Blue Wiggle, will continue performing alongside new recruits Emma Watkins, Lachlan Gillespie, and Simon Pryce, handpicked to take on the roles of the Yellow, Purple, and Red Wiggles.

The Wiggles will perform at St James Theatre, Wellington (Sept 8/9); Regent Theatre, Palmerston North (Sept 10); TSB Theatre, New Plymouth (Sept 12); Vector Arena, Auckland ( Sept 15/16); Founders Theatre, Hamilton (Sept 17/18); CBS Arena, Christchurch (Sept 20); Regent Theatre, Dunedin (Sept 22); and Civic Theatre, Invercargill (Sept 23).
