Teen pop sensation Justin Bieber arrives in Auckland this week for a three-day promotional visit, with fans and industry insiders speculating as to what he will get up to when he is not working.
The 18-year-old singer has his first promotional outing in the city tomorrow, to promote his new album Believe, but his record company, Universal, cannot say when he will arrive in New Zealand following chaotic scenes at Auckland Airport when he was here two years ago.
Last time, hundreds of teenage girls gathered to catch a glimpse of the singer. One quick fan even stole his baseball hat, later holding it to ransom.
It is likely the singer will avoid the airport arrival gate this time round, jumping straight into a car on the tarmac.
It is also understood Bieber will play an exclusive show to selected fans while he is here.
Businesses including Westpac, Skinny Mobile and some media outlets have been giving away tickets in the lead up to the show.
Bieber has hinted he would like to try something a bit more adventurous during his visit, adding the hashtag #Bungee in his tweet announcing his trip to New Zealand.
When he was in New Zealand in 2010, he threw himself off the Auckland Harbour Bridge bungy.
Bieber is currently in Australia, where fans have surrounded his Melbourne hotel. His starlet girlfriend, Selena Gomez, is also rumoured to be travelling with him.
Being swarmed by screaming girls is nothing new for Bieber. During his recent European tour, more than 25,000 fans turned up outside his hotel in Oslo, almost forcing the city to declare a state of emergency.
About 200,000 people turned up to a free Bieber concert in the centre of Mexico City earlier this year.
