''Pop with a little bit of country'' is how singer/songwriter Annah Mac describes her latest single Bucket, released on iTunes on Friday.

Mac – whose hit single Girl in Stilettos reached No 2 in the New Zealand Top 40 singles charts this year – said she also had high hopes for her latest song.

Although if she had the formula for writing a hit singles, she'd be creating them constantly, she said jokingly.

After singing the national anthem at the All Blacks v Springboks game in Dunedin Saturday night, Mac said she would be watching the progress of Bucket in the charts.

Mac was a finalist in the APRA Silver Scroll Awards last week for Girl in Stilettos, and though the award went to Stephanie Brown for Everything to Me, Mac said it was an honour to just be selected.

Past winners have included Dave Dobbyn, Neil Finn and Lawrence Arabia.

''It's the most prestigious award there is – it was amazing to be a finalist.''
