It's finally summer and while most of us wind their year down, artists and bands around the country are gearing up for festivals and tours. We've caught up with a buch of Kiwi artists and asked them a couple of questions.

First up is Kora's Dan McGruer who tells us what he's up to this summer, what he's looking forward to the most and reveals his favourite summer venue.

1.  What are you up to this summer?
We have many gigs on in NZ this summer, we will be playing our new songs, some that we have never played live yet. We have some international shows to plan and get ready for. Also recording some fresh tracks at Syrup D studios

2. What's your favourite thing about playing summer festivals/tours?
My favourite thing about playing festivals is catching up with our friends from other bands such as Katchafire, Shapehifter, Ladi6 etc
It seems like the only chance we all get to catch up and party together.

3. Three things you need at every summer festival/gig:

I need my three instruments... Alesis Andromeda synthesizer, 5-string Stingray bass, Akai sampler

4. The best summer venue in New Zealand and why?

My favourite venue for a NZ festival is Rippon in Wanaka. It is another world down there, the stage backdrop is amazing, you really need to check it out!
The festival has a great vibe and the organizers really look after us.

5. If you're not on stage yourself - who's your favourite summer act?
Our brothers Shapeshifter
