Singer-songwriter James Taylor announces NZ shows
Grammy-winning singer-songwriter James Taylor and his All Star band, will perform two shows in New Zealand over Waitangi weekend 2017.
On Thursday morning, concert promoters announced that Taylor will return to NZ for the first time in seven years. The Sweet Baby James hit-maker will perform one show at Auckland's Vector Arena on Saturday February 4 and a second tour date at Napier's Church Road Winery on Sunday, February 5.
The veteran musician has sold over 100 million albums throughout the course of his glittering career, secured five Grammy Awards and received the prestigious Diamond Award for his record sales in the US alone.
In 2010, Taylor wowed a packed house at Auckland's Vector Arena, with his effortlessly "stripped-back, folky ballads" alongside fellow musical icon, Carole King.
Boasting a backlog of classic hits that includes Fire and Rain, Country Road, Something in the Way She Moves, Carolina In My Mind and many more, Taylor secured his first number one single with You've Got a Friend, written by King, in 1971. The now instantly recognisable tune scored Taylor his very first Grammy Award for Best Pop Male Vocal the following year.
If next year's showcase is anything like his last Kiwi visit, fans of young and old can expect another "magical night" of reimagined renditions and a "feel-good" catalogue of hits.
Pre-sale tickets will be available to Spark customers from 11am Tuesday, October 25 until 11am Thursday, October 27.
Tickets to see James Taylor and his All-Star Band live in concert will be released to the general public at midday Friday, October 28.
