Kimbra's performance will mark a welcome return to the festival stage, after headlining the Gisborne music festival in 2012.

Kiwi songbird Kimbra has been added to the already impressive Rhythm and Vines festival line-up.

Festival promoters confirmed on Wednesday morning that the Settle Down hit-maker will perform at the popular New Years Eve festival on December 30.

Kimbra's performance will mark a welcome return to the festival stage, after headlining the Gisborne music festival in 2012.

Joining Kimbra are UK Electronica act Maribou State, Drum and Bass DJ Culture Shock, Cut Snake, Aussie exports Oscar Key Sung and Ocean Alley and local break-out acts Maala and Kings.

Among the international acts is American hip-hop and gospel-fusion artist Chance the Rapper, who will headline the festival and make his New Zealand debut.

Belgian drum and bass producer Netsky, who teamed up with Macklemore for his hit Rio Remix, will see in the New Year at the festival for the fifth time.

Rhythm and Vines will run across three days, with festivities officially kicking off on December 29.
