Lorde's fast rise to mega-fame continues
The cat is well out of the bag that New Zealand singer Lorde is one of the hottest talents in music right now, but one more A-lister singing her praises couldn't hurt.
And yesterday high-powered entertainment blogger Perez Hilton dedicated much of his day to her cause.
Auckland teen 16-year-old Elle Yelich-O'Connor has only gone from strength to strength since bursting onto the scene just months ago.
She has attracted millions of fans worldwide, and she can count some of the biggest names in music and entertainment among them - most recently Hilton, who evidently caught her LA show last night and fell in love.
"At the hottest ticket in Los Angeles, the @lordemusic concert at the Echoplex!!!! We are royals tonight!!!!" he tweeted, kicking off a spree of Lorde-related musings to his more than 6.1 million followers.
Followed by no less than 24 tweets about her, including articles from the Daily Beast, The Wall Street Journal and the New York Times raving about her.
According to the Huffington Post, the LA gig gave the young rising star her first dish of real fame, when she encountered the US paparazzi.
"Her infectious hits "The Love Club" and "Royals" have sparked an underground following that translated into her first-ever shows in New York City and Los Angeles this week. And both were completely sold out," the Huffpost reported.
People reportedly paid up to US$120 (NZ$150) for a 45 minute show. In an interview with Lorde before her LA show, the the teen revealed to the Huffpost she gets "disgustingly sick" with nerves before going onstage.
