Academy Award-winner Bret McKenzie and Boy director Taika Waititi have been drumming up a storm in Wellington's Cuba Mall.
The stars are lending a banging hand to a project that aims at bringing kids from all over the country to the capital for a huge drumming extravaganza called The Big Bang, which will kick off the three week Arts Festival in style on 21 February 2014.
Other Wellingtonians in the video include Wellington Mayor Celia Wade-Brown, composer Gareth Farr, TV3 political reporter Patrick Gower and Strike Percussion musicians Murray Hickman and Tim Whitta.
The students, who are being trained through Strike's Batterie 100 programme, will perform alongside 300 singers from community choirs, and special guests to be announced.
This 500-strong concert will be a free event launching the three-week-long arts festival in style.
The Big Bang has received some funding but still needs to raise an additional $25,000 to make it happen. The New Zealand Festival has launched a campaign on the crowd funding website Boosted to reach its goal.
