Look who's going to be materialising in Auckland on Labour Weekend.

Doctor Who's Jenna Coleman has been announced as the special guest star at the Armageddon Expo, being held at the ASB Showgrounds.

Known to New Zealand audiences as Clara Oswald - companion to 11th Doctor Matt Smith and current incarnation Peter Capaldi - Coleman is appearing in the latest series of the long-ruinning sci fi series, screening on Prime TV at 7.30pm on Sundays.

Audiences might also recognise Coleman from her roles in Captain America: The First Avenger and various other shows such as the well-known soap opera Emmerdale and Dancing on the Edge.

In the role of Clara Oswald, Coleman has found herself in some unique situations including narrowly escaping a defrosted Martian released on-board a 1983 Russian Submarine.

The 28-year-old is the partner of actor Richard Madden, better known as the ill-fated Robb Stark in Game of Thrones.

Beyond Reality Media director William Geradts, the man behind the pop culture shows now being staged throughout the country, said Coleman's addition to the guest list was a thrilling development.

''Jenna will be the first Doctor Who guest who is currently on the show to ever appear in New Zealand.

Other TV guests that will be appearing at the Auckland Armageddon Expo include Richard Dean Anderson (Macgyver, Stargate SG-1), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), ''Hacksaw'' Jim Duggan (WWE Wresting Hall of Famer), DJ Qualls (Supernatural, Road Trip), A J Buckley (Supernatural, CSI: NY), Michael Hogan (Battlestar Galactica, Teen Wolf), Graham McTavish (Hobbit films, Outlander), Helen Slater (Supergirl, Smallville) and Matt Frewer (Max Headroom, Supernatural).

As well as the big names exhibitors and hundreds of costumed fans, the Armageddon shows now feature events like Cosplay contests and ''Fear Factor'' challenges.

From its inception in 1995, the brand has grown to become the largest fantasy event in Australasia.
