Three recycles The Block personalities in new property show
Trying to buy yourself a slice of paradise? Three has got a show for you: a new reality show about the property market.
Slice of Paradise will see The Block alumni Shelley Ferguson and Peter Wolfkamp compete to find the best deal for prospective home buyers.
Each episode will feature two buyers, who Ferguson and Wolfkamp will present with three housing options, highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of each.
The press release announcing the show promises it will have a practical bent.
"Viewers will get an entertaining look at a variety of properties in each episode, taking away practical discussion points regarding different housing options in New Zealand," it says.
Ferguson, a challenge judge and later co-host on The Block NZ, said the show was "fascinating" because of the mix of first home buyers, investors and empty nesters it portrayed.
"By following their journey – and let's be honest, property searching can be a journey – New Zealanders can get a good look at what's on offer in terms of lifestyle and real estate in different regions around the country," she said.
"I'm really looking forward to challenging people's thought patterns on where or how they could compromise, manage expectations or re-prioritize when it comes to property buying. I think we'll have some real head versus heart battles on our hands!"
Ferguson's knowledge of the market comes from editing home and lifestyle magazines, including Your Home and Garden. Her co-host Wolfkamp's knowledge comes from a more practical background.
A professional builder, he was site foreman on The Block.
"Like anyone who is a homeowner, or a potential homeowner, we are intensely interested in the property market at the moment," he said.
"It will be very interesting to see what money can buy in different areas and I think we will see a huge contrast in the market depending on location.
"We will be working with people of all circumstances from both ends of the country and it's going to be extraordinary to see what's available."
There's been no word yet on when Slice of Paradise will air.
