The bagpipes: not as easy as blowing into the bag and squeezing. Just ask TVNZ 1 Breakfast presenter Matt McLean.

McLean tried his hand at the traditional Scottish instrument on Friday morning during a live cross from Dunedin's Larnach Castle.

The results - perhaps predictably - were pretty hilarious.

"It's a lot harder than I gave it credit for, playing the bagpipes," McLean said.

However, he did get to have the last laugh, telling the studio: "I am going to go and put some underwear on."

McLean is developing a reputation for his on-air stunts. In recent weeks he's been blitzed by gale-force winds, gone on screen in a skin-tight green bodysuit, and had stitches removed from his head.
