Rachel Smalley will be joining the team on TVNZ’s Q+A programme.

The former TV3 current affairs host will be presenting the show alongside host Susan Wood, political editor Corin Dann, and deputy political editor Michael Parkin.

The political programme features an hour of live interviews and political debate.

Smalley is described by TVNZ current affairs editor Briar McCormack as one of the country’s top interviewers.

Smalley currently hosts Newstalk ZB’s Early Edition

“I’m delighted to be joining such a strong team of political journalists on Q+A, in what will be a very exciting year,'' she said.

"Politics is gripping the country at the moment, and the discussion and the debate will only grow as we edge closer to the election."

Q+A will soon return to TV One.

As part of the News and Current Affairs team at TVNZ, Smalley will also have the opportunity to file stories for Sunday on TV ONE, TVNZ said in a statement.
