Survivor: China victim Aaron Reisberger was so hungry during his time on the hit reality TV show he resorted to cooking tiny frogs over a camp fire.

Aaron, a surfing instructor from California who was voted out last night after his new tribe threw a challenge, says scavenging for food was essential for survival.

"There's no food, there's no sleep, there's no water for the first 72 hours. We ate everything from rice to frogs, crabs, fish from the lake, and some roots and plants.

"The frogs we were catching were smaller than the palm of your hand. There's not a lot of meat on there (but) anything that you put on a stick and put over a camp fire is gonna taste pretty good."

Aaron, 32, and his Fei Long team mate James were forced to swap tribes with two Zhan Hu members, but was then voted out when his new team mates - led by Jaime and Peih-Gee - forecasted a merge and threw a challenge in a bid to even the numbers out.

Aaron said he was angry about what happened and wouldn't have done the same thing if he was in the girls' position.

"To go and throw an immunity challenge like that - I had no idea that would ever take place, or that it was even feasible.

"I would never have done the same thing - it wouldn't have even been a thought in my mind. If I was in the girls' place and those two came over it would have been 'let's try and win'.

"I understand their strategy. They're planning for the long term, the merge and they're trying to get five original Zhan Hu members to battle five original Fei Long members."

But does he hold a grudge against the girls?

"To see how smug and snickering and flippant they were in their attitude about doing the whole thing, that was kind of hard to take. I didn't like that.

"We'll see if their strategy works out. I hope it doesn't, for what it's worth."

Despite the hunger, Aaron said the mental aspect of the game was the hardest thing about Survivor: China.

"You can't trust anybody. You're bonding with these people, you're talking this and that but you don't know who's lying, you don't know who's telling you the truth, you don't know who's on your alliance. It's tough that way."

He picked one of his original Fei Long team mates, like Denise, Amanda or Todd, to win the $US1 million prize.
