Simon Cowell has reportedly offered Katy Perry a $NZ480,000 "pay-per-show" deal to judge the US version of The X Factor.
The 25-year-old pop star was a guest judge at the Dublin auditions for the original British series of the hit singing contest earlier this year. Her episode aired last weekend, but Simon was so impressed with her hilarious comments he contacted her to talk about the American version of the programme before it was broadcast.
He is believed to have offered Katy a "pay-per-show" deal, which could see her earn $NZ480,000 for every episode she appears on. Katy is reportedly "thrilled" with the offer, and has agreed to sit down and thrash out a deal with Simon in the next few weeks.
"Simon wants to get the judging names signed, sealed and announced within six weeks. He wants at least one massive American star, someone who is known globally, plus one Brit and at least one authoritative male," a source told British newspaper The Daily Mirror.
"Katy really came on Simon’s radar after the Dublin auditions. She absolutely nailed it. She was a natural.
"Katy was thrilled, especially by the package which is said to be a [$NZ480,000[-a-show deal. She has agreed to meet Simon and studio bosses in the States this autumn to see if something can be done."
Other famous faces linked to the new show include Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, Victoria Beckham, Cheryl Cole, Paula Abdul and Jamie Foxx.
