Viewers are switching away in droves from The Ridges, the show featuring mum and daughter pairing Sally and Jaime Ridge, as ratings for the reality show tank by more than 80,000.
Last night's episode attracted just 242,030 viewers, compared to the 325,130 it managed to draw on its debut, according to Throng website, which compares television ratings.
The ratings saw the reality show fall from the five most-viewed evening shows where it placed last week, with Fair Go attracting 596,610 viewers in the same time-slot.
One News was the most-watched show on New Zealand television yesterday, attracting almost triple the amount of viewers than The Ridges managed.
TV3's spokeswoman Rachel Lorimer said TVNZ's My Kitchen Rules, which screened on TV2 in the same time-slot and attracted 470,120 viewers last night, had impacted on the show's ratings but it had performed really well.
"It's a very competitive environment but The Ridges has held its own. We expect that a lot of people will have recorded it to watch later."
By midnight last night there had been just under 2000 on-demand viewings of the latest episode, she said.
"We are getting really good feedback. It has out-performed where we thought it would get to and we're pretty happy with that."
Critics have said that while people tuned in to the first show to see what all the fuss was about, having watched it they were unlikely to tune in again this week.
The show also failed to create much of a buzz on Twitter.
Twitter user jacklynmoni tweeted: "Forgot about #the ridges tonight. By the looks of it, so did the rest of you! #notweets".
But some viewers took to Twitter to admit they still liked the show.
Another twitter user Sharon_Power described the show as "Lighthearted fun". "Ok gotta confess I am looking forward to seeing #The Ridges tonight [sic]."
Next week's episode follows Jaime and Sally as they do a magazine photo shoot.
