Yau-man Chan has been voted out of the reality show Survivor, and the popular personality says there is only one person to blame for his eviction.
"I totally underestimated what a power player Cirie (Fields) could be," Chan told Stuff.co.nz.
"I didn't get to know Cirie as well (as the others) and didn't realise she had such a powerful personality. She convinced everybody to turn against me easily.
"She turned out to be quite a power player."
The 55-year-old California resident - who came fourth on Survivor: Fiji - was voted out of last night's show after the nine-piece Favourites tribe split into two alliances of four, leaving Fields to decide who was going home.
Chan, who works as a technology adviser, said the tribe made the wrong decision.
"We should have voted for Parvati (Shallow). She was in a little romantic relationship with James (Clement). One of the things about this game is you really want to split up the love couples right away.
"But who knows when the hormones hit, right?"
The professional table tennis player said the team of Favourites underestimated the tribe made up of Survivor fans.
"We all thought that it should be a breeze for us because we'd done it before (but) they know everything about us and we have no idea who they are.
"We were certainly more experienced in camp life and we were able to find a lot of food, but we were not doing well in the challenges. We know what we're doing but we were losing challenges because we were overconfident."
Chan, one of Survivor's most popular and memorable characters, said he had a target on his back because of his success on Survivor: Fiji.
"I knew I had a target on my back. In Fiji, I was the 'feeble old man' so I wasn't a threat to anybody. I was able to play under the radar until I started winning individual immunity."
Chan wishes he had sided with Fields earlier in the game.
"I could have teamed up with her much earlier, and could have made more assurances with her that we would have been good allies. (Or) I could have plotted against her.
"It was a very sad loss for me. I was hoping to go much further."
*Survivor: Fans vs Favourites screens on TV3, 8.30pm, Tuesday. Stuff.co.nz will exclusively interview every contestant after their elimination.
