This made us happy and so we thought we'd share.
American singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat's latest song, Try, is our new feelgood anthem, and it has an awesome music video to match.
The 29-year-old's song starts with a bombardment of the messages women hear daily:
'Put your make-up on
Get your nails done
Curl your hair
Run the extra mile
Keep it slim so they like you, do they like you?'
As these are sung, a range of women appear with their hair coiffed and their makeup thick. But then, as the song progresses, the women slowly remove their foundation, eyelash extensions and even wigs. They reverse their blow dries, wipe off their lipstick and, with smiles on their faces, prove they look just as beautiful without the extra help.
The lyrics reflect the change:
'Take your make-up off
Let your hair down
Take a breath
Look into the mirror, at yourself
Don't you like you?
Cause I like you'
PS: The wonderful Colbie Caillat auditioned for American Idol twice before she found fame. She was rejected twice (and Bubbly, the song she sang the second time around, eventually peaked at number five on the Billboard chart. In. Your. Face).
