Being a bridesmaid should be an honour, but get pregnant, put on weight or even change your hairdo and you may be sacked.
A new British survey shows that brides-to-be are becoming more picky about picking their wedding day attendants. More than one in five women planning their wedding claimed they would ask their bridesmaid to sign a pre-nuptial agreement.
Almost half (48 per cent) said they would sack those who did not abide by the contract.
The survey, commissioned by a wedding magazine, asked more than 1000 women which clauses they would like to see in a pre-nuptial agreement. Most would insist bridesmaids not put on weight, not fall pregnant and not change their hairstyle before the wedding day.
Among the survey responses, were examples of bridal relations gone bad.
One woman said her maid-of-honour left her dress at a service station on the way to the wedding after deciding she did not like it.
Another revealed her bridesmaid had left 30 invitations unsent in her desk drawer.
Among the suggestions for a successful bridesmaid were don't get drunk and don't get too amorous with the opposite sex - particularly the groom.
