Homeless chic on Milan catwalk

For her menswear show at the Museo della Permanente in Milan designer Vivienne Westwood sent 'homeless' models down the runway.
The catwalk was carpeted with cardboard boxes and models carried bedrolls and sleeping bags.
The press release for the show said that Westwood found inspiration 'in the roving vagrant whose daily get-up is a battle gear for the harsh weather conditions'.
Models' hair was dishevelled and tinted silver, according to the designer, this was to make it look like 'they were sleeping rough and they'd got frost in their hair'.
"Homeless chic? It's a little close to the bone. The clothes were fantastic though," said one magazine editor.
"I'm saying to people as well, buy less clothes. Only buy things when you really need them and really like them, Wear them and wear them." Westwood said.
At the end of the show the Grand Dame of British fashion was wheeled out on a stretcher by her models to ecstatic applause from the audience.
