Elle Macpherson fought back tears on the catwalk in Sydney today, revealing that her father is seriously ill.
The mega model was in town to help launch airline Virgin Blue's new look uniforms.
But the famously composed Macpherson, 47, became emotional during a brief Q&A session at the end of the event, telling the compere she was glad to be back in Australia.
"It's wonderful to be home, I miss my family.. actually I'm going to get a bit emotional," she said.
"I'm really happy to be back and to see them, particularly my dad, who's unwell."
Peter Gow, a former president of Cronulla Sharks rugby league club, said he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and underwent surgery 19 days ago.
"[It] is a bit of a worry but thankfully with a lot of help from a skilled surgeon and staff at St Vincent's Cancer Clinic I'm on the way to recovery," Mr Gow said.
"The love of my children has been instrumental in helping me recover, it's touching to think [Elle] should get upset.
"You don't realise how much the love of your children means to you or their support until you get an illness that could be a threat."
Macpherson was photographed with her youngest son, Aurelius Cy, at Sydney Aquarium yesterday.
Mr Gow said his eldest daughter had called him three or four times each day since the procedure.
Last night they sat down to dinner with Mr Gow's other children, Mimi and Ben.
"It's just like being born again, a lot of other people go through it but it's great to have a fantastic family to support you," he said.
"All of my children have been the same."
