Pop culture fashion label Stolen Girlfriends Club has been crowned New Zealand's hottest up-and-coming fashion exporter.
The diverse label was last night declared the winner of the inaugural DHL Fashion Export Scholarship beating other top New Zealand labels including Salasai and Jimmy D.
Stolen Girlfriends Club showed great diversity and catered to a wide variety of tastes and ages, DHL Express New Zealand fashion and textile strategic account manager Jason Orlop said.
"This will contribute to them becoming great ambassadors for our fashion industry when exporting to international markets," he said.
The prize package included freight to the value of $10,000, coaching in freight and logistics and tailored export mentoring from Fashion Industry New Zealand (FINZ).
Scholarship judge Trelise Cooper said Stolen Girlfriends Club presented a unique, strong and cohesive collection.
FINZ executive officer Mapihi Opai said she was thrilled with the high quality of entries.
"In judging we were extremely impressed by the calibre of our applicants and everything that they've achieved."
Stolen Girlfriends Club was the unanimous choice of all four judges who considered a number of factors including designer performance and future vision for international growth.
"Their achievements to date, coupled with a sophisticated export and media strategy, show a brand being driven by a dedicated and ambitious team who know exactly what they want to achieve, and have the nous to make it happen," Ms Opai said.
