A transgender love story
Arin Andrews, 17 and Katie Hill, 19, are your typical head-over-heels, make-music-mixes-for-each-other teenage lovebirds.
She looks a bit like Kristen Stewart, he looks like a Joseph Gordon Levitt-Justin Bieber (pre haircut) hybrid, the only twist is that they met while going through their gender transition surgeries.
The Oklahoma teens are both post-op transgender, and they met at a trans support group while going through the multiple surgeries and identity changes involved in transitioning. They became each other's rock, and they soon fell in love.
Hill was bullied and teased throughout school, and was so depressed she decided she wanted to become Katie when she was 15. She says that those tough years give her a unique understanding of her boyfriend Andrews.
"Being transgender myself, I understand Arin better than anybody else - how good he feels and how complete he feels," Hill told The Sun.
Andrews had his 'top surgery' last month - meaning he's had his breasts removed - and he says he feels much happier without them.
"I hated my breasts, I always felt like they didn't belong. Now I finally feel comfortable in my own body," he told The Sun. "Now when I'm out in a public pool or lifting weights, no one raises an eyebrow. They just think I'm a guy... I can wear a tank top, which I couldn't before, and I can go swimming shirtless."
The pair have featured in two Barcroft TV documentaries called Boy Girl Meets Girl Boy.
