Bob Carey has photographed himself in a pink tutu for 10 years - at first to make his wife laugh during chemotherapy; but now to raise funds for women suffering from breast cancer.

When Linda was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003, Bob began taking a series of self-portraits wearing a tutu - and only a tutu.

The series was dedicated to breast cancer awareness, and the images have been turned into a calendar raising funds for the cause.

The photos have also been compiled in a book, Ballerina, with all proceeds going directly to breast cancer organisation The Carey Project.

But their original motivation was simply laughter.

"When Linda would go for treatment, she would take the images on her phone and the women would look at them and it would make them laugh, and make the time pass," Bob said.

Linda said the pictures helped her to keep positive through her treatment.

"The more I laugh, the better I feel," she said.

In a video released on YouTube last week, the couple reflected on the project, and how a simple tutu has hit home with so many people.
