Summer loving: beauty tips

With Summer fast approaching we have some tips to help you look your best.
- The best anti-ageing treatment for your skin is to wear sunscreen every day, even on cloudy days. Go for a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a physical block (zinc or titanium dioxide) which keeps out UVA and UVB rays.
- Drink lots of water in summer to keep yourself hydrated. Beware indoor airconditioning, which can dry out skin. Take bottled water with you everywhere and keep sipping throughout the day. If you feel thirsty, you are probably already dehydrated. Check the colour of your urine - it should be a light yellow. If it is dark, you are probably not drinking enough water.
- Prepare your face and body for summer with any of the following: an exfoliating body massage or scrub (or do-it-yourself at home), a pedicure and manicure (don't scrimp on the cool colours for toes, and use pumice stones to soften hardened winter heels), get a bikini wax and shave legs, and get an eyebrow "tidy up" from your salon (natural eyebrows are in, but keep them well-shaped and groomed for a polished summer look).
- Tanning has become less and less fashionable over the years, especially with the dangers associated with the sun, melanoma and tanning beds. Avoid those things and, if you must, go for a fake tanning/moisturising lotion or a dusting of bronzing powder to give you the glow of summer.
- Keep makeup light and fresh. Consider a tinted moisturiser. A sweep of mascara and a touch of eyeliner in one of summer's bright jewel tones (peacock blue, emerald green, deep purple) is all you need, along with some lipgloss or soft pink lipstick. This year it's all about playing up the eyes and keeping skin dewy and natural.
- Take care of your hair over summer. Wear a hat or scarf, and rinse hair with fresh water after swimming in the ocean or a pool. Consider using a leave-on conditioning treatment and pay particular attention to the dry ends. Wear up in an easy pony-tail or bun, or get it cut short and chic for easy summer care.
