There is a running joke in my household that should I ever want to get on a plane, the bags under my eyes are so big they would need to be checked in.

And so it was with excitement that I tried L'Oreal's Youth Code skincare range, $35 each, with an eyecare cream claiming to reduce dark circles and bags within one week of use. L'Oreal had fancy scientists in lab coats, with test tubes and beakers, research for 10 years to work out how to make genes recover faster.

All that science is fine, but what really matters is the actual product. The daycare cream is heavy and not easily absorbed. I could still feel it sitting on top of my skin at the end of the day. The concentrate is a little better, but didn't noticeably change my skin.

The eyecream, however, is quite good. It is light, easily absorbed and had a pleasant scent. After 10 days of use, while it hasn't worked miracles, I think my eye baggage has at least been reduced to carry-on - which is OK by me. ROSIE DAWSON-HEWES

L'Oreal Youth Code skincare range is available at L'Oreal stockists nationwide.
