Kylie Minogue wears sunscreen even when she’s just sitting by a window on a plane.

The Australian pop star is fanatical about looking after her skin, and worries letting it get bronzed in the sun will make it age prematurely. She is careful to never leave the house unless she has protected her face, explaining she is borderline obsessed with it.

"Sun-block – I’m semi-fanatical about it!" she laughed. "Even if I’ve just got an hour’s drive from A to B, or I’m getting on a day flight and I’m sat by the window. If it’s less than factor 20, it doesn’t go on my face. You can get good sunscreen in moisturisers now, and in mineral make-up – I often put a dusting of that over the top."

The 42-year-old often fakes her tan instead of baking in the sun, and is amazed by how much bronzing agents have improved over the years. Her favourites are St Tropez mousse and Vani-T, which is an Australian brand.

Kylie added she hasn’t always been so determined to protect her skin. As a child she didn’t realise how damaging the sun’s rays could be.

"When I was little, I wasn’t sun-conscious at all," she told Company magazine. "At school, you had to have the brownest legs and the brownest body, and we would just bake ourselves."
