Celebrity hairdresser John Chapman says his biggest advice for healthy tresses is a weekly conditioning treatment.
John has a host of famous clients but says it isn't just the A-list who can have glossy manes.
The hairdresser has revealed the secret to celebrity shine is looking after your hair during warm weather.
"My top tip is to always do a treatment once a week on your hair in summer months. It's a small thing to do but it will have a huge result on the condition of the hair," he advised.
John says he's most impressed by the glossy locks of redhead Julianne Moore and brunette Liv Tyler.
"They have amazing hair because it is a nice colour with a high gloss content," said John.
He also admires the sleek hair of starlets including dark-haired Rachel Bilson and Emma Roberts, who has sported both blonde and brunette styles.
"The younger people coming through like Rachel Bilson and Emma Roberts, Julia Roberts' niece, have great hair. It's about making the most of what you've got." added John.
John was keen to stress that long hair is very high maintenance and revealed he thinks women who choose to grow their locks need to be prepared to work hard to achieve a healthy shine.
"Put the time in and it will be worth it, not only in how it feels, but in how it looks. If you're gonna have long hair, you have to look after it or you should just cut it off," he warned.
John has worked extensively in the UK, and styled hair for the catwalk shows at Gatwick Fashion Week earlier this month.
