Ana Ivanovic leaves engagement rumours swirling during Auckland visit
Tennis ace Ana Ivanovic endured Auckland's soggy summer today, stepping out downtown to receive a $20,000 bespoke champagne diamond ring to balance the impressive piece she carries on the other hand.
However, the Serbian grand slam star wouldn't spill any secrets about her relationship with Manchester United mid-fielder boyfriend Bastian Schweinsteiger, blushing when asked about engagement rumours.
"That's personal," she said, although according to online reports Ivanovic celebrated 12 months with the German footballer in September and there's plenty of chatter about a recent proposal and a relocation to Manchester.
The former world No. 1 brought her mother and aunt to visit the luxury jewellery boutique, Naveya and Sloane, where she graciously slipped the gold and diamond ring on to her red, manicured finger. Another piece exactly the same will be given away during this month's ASB Classic at the Moet & Chandon Champagne Lounge.
The 28-year-old was the first of the big names to arrive in Auckland for the tennis tournament, ahead of Venus Williams and Caroline Wozniacki who will touch down this weekend.
Ivanovic, now ranked 16, defeated Venus Williams in the final in 2014. She'll make her first appearance in the singles on Tuesday and this time has teamed up with Belgian Kirsten Flipkens in the doubles. They are likely to play their first match together on Monday.
