Every week there's a new beauty trend promised to give amazing results, and one of the latest is camel's milk. Yep, you read it right - the hump-backed mammals are behind one of the industry's most sought after products, which has countless benefits.

Here to take us through them is Korean beauty blogger Vicky Lee, founder of www.sorabelle.com, who begins by telling us where this craze began.

"Legend has it that the first woman to realise the beneficial properties of camel's milk was Cleopatra, who used to bathe in the stuff daily to achieve soft and supple skin," Lee said.

What is it about camel's milk that gives us smooth, silky skin? Vicky explains thanks to it being a rich source of lactic acid, part of the exfoliating alpha hydroxy acid (AHAs) family, it fills wrinkles and can help freshen up any discolouration or dark spots.

Furthermore, there are more useful natural proteins in the drink which aids anti-ageing, as the expert notes: "It's high in collagen, elastin and vitamins B and C. Collagen and elastin are two proteins that are essential to maintain the skin's firmness and elasticity, while vitamin C is an antioxidant that can fight free radicals and boost the production of collagen."

The level of vitamins and minerals found in camel's milk soar above that in cow's milk, though it isn't as easy to find. Specialist food shops may have it available, or health food stores.

And it's even being used in beauty products in Korea, so it may be worth keeping an eye out for this ingredient making it big worldwide in the near future.

"The most popular of these has to be the Tony Moly Camel Milk Cream Premium RX, a nourishing wrinkle-filling cream that improves the firmness and elasticity of skin," Lee said.

"The camel's milk it contains also helps even the skin tone, while the vegetable butter creates a shield on the skin that locks moisture in, resulting in a smoother and softer complexion."
