Gone are the days when a Barbie-like figure was the preferred body type, a new study says women are rejecting over-inflated curves and teeny tiny waists in favour of a softer, curvier look.

According to an online UK study, just one in 200 girls say they still aim to attain the 'porn body' made famous by glamour models such as Pamela Anderson and Katie Price.

Young women are now condemning the look as 'tacky and dated' and describing it as 'overhyped, oversexed and demeaning.'

Online magazine sofeminine.co.uk who commissioned the study says the reason behind the backlash is the rising tide of online pornography.

Also shunned is the runway-ready, waif-thin look.

While two in five girls admitted starving themselves to achieve an ultra-skinny body a decade ago, now only seven per cent think the pin-thin figure is attractive.

According to the study, the most popular body shape is now the curvy 'soft body' with 68 per cent of women favouring the figure.

"The soft body is the biggest change in women's health and beauty in decades," says sofeminine.co.uk Editorial Manager Ursula Dewey.

"It's rocketing popularity shows women are turning their backs on being told to have over-the-top surgical enhancement or extreme diets are once again embracing their natural beauty and curves.

"The look has been popular throughout history with stars like size 14 Marilyn Monroe - and it's the one look which men and women both adore."

Despite many women embracing a more realistic and natural look, 92 per cent of those surveyed reported they still feel 'under pressure' to keep up with the latest body shape ideals.
