Rosie H-W spills her beauty secrets
Owner of a truly glorious mane, British model-turned-actor Rosie Huntington-Whiteley happens to also be tall and toned, and boasts impeccable style.
In the hope of picking up a few tips, we fired some beauty and health questions her way, but were left feeling that - green smoothies aside - it's probably more to do with genetics. Sigh.
Can you tell us about your morning and evening beauty routines?
I like to ensure my skincare regime is simple yet effective, using products that produce real results for my skin. I always start with my ModelCo Gel Cleanser to lift away any impurities - I love the lightweight gel formula.
In the mornings I apply my ModelCo Instant Miracle Booster which instantly firms my skin and invigorates my complexion.
In the evenings I apply a few drops of rosehip oil because I love the way my skin looks and feels the morning after.
Because travel and makeup are such big parts of my life, my skin is quite sensitive.
What's your one must-do beauty rule that you always stick to?
Always, always remove your makeup before bed.
What's your simple go-to beauty look when in a rush?
I like to keep it very simple. Something light to even out my skin tone topped off with lots of lashes.
Did you mother or grandma ever pass on beauty wisdom?
They taught me that real beauty shines from within. Everyone is beautiful when they have a smile on their face and they are being kind to each other.
What beauty essentials are always in your bag?
I am obsessed with eyebrows! I feel good when my eyebrows are groomed so I love ModelCo Eyebrows Designer Brow Kit; As I live in sunny LA, sunscreen is very important to me and I use ModelCo Daily Face SPF 50+; Burt's bees wax lip balm - I like to keep my lips soft and subtle and Burt's Bees is a great natural balm; blotting papers and lip gloss.
What's your favourite shade of lipstick?
I feel confident when I'm wearing a red lip stick.
How often do you get salon treatments?
I get my hair cut regularly (every six weeks) and I think this is essential for great hair. As I use a lot of products when I'm working, I like to keep it clean when I'm not.
What foods do you eat to keep your skin looking young?
I absolutely love green smoothies. I always try to incorporate celery, spinach, kale and pears to my smoothies along with banana and a bit of almond butter to give it a boost of sweetness.
I've also recently cut out a lot of red meat, not for any reason, I just didn't crave it anymore. And since I cut it out I have noticed how much lighter and better I feel.
What do you do to relax?
I find massages a really important part of my routine to help my body relax and unwind. Vinyasa Flow yoga and Pilates which I practice almost every day when I'm not working is also incredibly relaxing for my mind and body.
I love to be outdoors in the nature, walks or the beach or hikes in the canyons in LA are always relaxing, I go with a friend and take my dogs and we catch up and have a laugh.
I also love to take the time to go visit my parents in Devon back home in England, I grew up in the countryside, its truly one of the most beautiful places in the world to me, we hang out at home and cook, I love to go walking in the fields with my mum.
What is your fitness routine?
I have worked with an Australian yoga teacher called Claire Grieves who has changed my life. Aussies sure know how to keep in shape.
I also love Pilates I go to a place in LA called Ballet Bodies, Andie Hecker who is also a friend of mine used to be a professional ballet dancer so she knows how to keep my body long and lean.
I also love high energy gym session like Tracy Anderson its super tough but I feel great when I leave! LA is geared towards healthy living so my days 'off' are spent horse-riding, surfing, being on the beach, going for great walks and swimming.
Who is your style icon?
I adore Jean Rosemary Shrimpton - she too was a model and actress and has impeccable style and beauty.
Did you fall victim to any 90s beauty trends?
I was a big fan of the dark brown matte lipstick.
Were there any fashion blunders in your youth?
Probably! I was a real tomboy growing up so it was a real battle to get me to wear anything girly.
What's your beauty advice for strong independent women?
Be confident, be calm and smile.
