Stone takes 'pleasure' in sex symbol status
Sharon Stone has revealed she takes a lot of pleasure in being praised for her looks.
The Basic Instinct actress turned 56 on March 10.
During a chat with Oprah Winfrey recorded before her birthday, Sharon admitted she is still happy to embrace a sex symbol status.
"It's a pleasure for me now. I mean, I'm gonna be 56 years old," she began, "If people want to think I'm a sex symbol, it's, like, yeah. Think it up. You know. I mean, like, good for me."
There's often a pressure on older actresses in Hollywood to have work done to maintain their looks. But Sharon thinks the concept is "absurd".
"I don't think ageless beauty exists. I think it's just a catch-phrase. And so, you know, I think that's absurd," she said.
The Casino actress believes that looking good on the outside depends on how much you take care of your insides.
And for Sharon, taking a holistic approach to living is something that's very important to her.
"To be the best you can be, you know, we have to recognise that it's an internal thing. Not just an external thing," she told Oprah.
"You know, I think it's a sense of ethics. It's everything, you know. If you want to keep yourself together, it's all things."
Sharon is even more thankful for her life and looks now after previously admitting that in her younger years she was an introvert.
"When I was 20, after my horseback-riding accident, I was given cortisone shots and I gained a lot of weight from that, like 45 pounds," she says in the March issue of America's Shape magazine.
"I just wanted to die and I became an introvert."
