HAIR TODAY: January's hair looked significantly less healthy at Sunday night's SAG Awards (left) than it did a few years ago (right), before she'd dyed it every colour on the spectrum.

Mad Men star and single mum to one-year-old son Xander, January Jones, 35, has admitted that too many colour changes means her hair is now "falling out in clumps".

"I've been every colour, and now my hair's falling out in clumps," she told Grazia Daily while at last week's Sundance Fim Festival. "I’ve been blonde, red with extensions for this film [Sweetwater], then blonde, then black, and now blonde again. I’m going to have to shave it off and wear a wig.”

"I like it all colours," she added, "I didn't get treated differently when I was red-headed, but when I went dark for a few months, I was suddenly invisible. Not just as a celebrity, but to my friends and family. I was like, 'Come on you guys, it's me! It makes you feel different according to what color it is, but I prefer to be blonde. My son recognizes me in photos when I am blonde. He says, ‘Mama.’”

So even celebs with armies of hair stylists and products suffer from dry, damaged hair when they're too fickle about colour change - this may explain her recent spate of severe up-dos, including the less-than-successful style at Sunday night's SAG awards.
