Karen Walker's spring 2012 range was inspired by the all-American woman.

Clinique's Global Colour Artist Jenna Mernard chose a monochromatic coral look with bold lips, flushed rosy cheeks and dewy skin for a classic and feminine look with a modern and fresh approach.

Do it yourself at home with these simple steps.

Get a youthful glow with dewy skin. Choose a foundation with luminous properties.

Place foundation only where you need it and blend outwards with a foundation brush.

Use concealer on any problem areas.

Try: Clinique BB Cream, $50; Estee Lauder Invisible Makeup, $80; Nars Sheer Glow Foundation, $89.

The focus of this look is the lips, but the eyes need special attention as well.

Mernard used a creamy eye shadow with a slight shimmer, followed by brown eyeliner to lightly define the eyes.

Use a light mid-tone cream eye shadow over your entire lid.

Blend from your lashes to your brown bone and run a little bit under your lash line as well.

Try: Clinique Lid Smoothie, $56; Bobbi Brown Metallic Long wear Cream Eyeshadow, $57; Stila Smudge Crayon, $47.

Apply brown eyeliner along your top lid and smudge into the lash line, blending towards the corner of the eye.

Keep your upper lashes free from mascara but apply Bottom Lash mascara on your bottom lashes - this gives the look a modern twist.

Try: Bobbi Brown Long wear Eyeliner, $58; Body Shop Eye Definer, $20.50; Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara, $30; M.A.C Hey, Sailor Zoom Waterfast mascara, $34; Maybelline Volum' Express mascara, $23.99.

Tie in your lips with a subtle coral hue on your cheeks.

Pop a dab of blush onto the apples of your cheeks, blending to soften.

Try: Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge, $52, in stores July 2; Body Shop Lily Cole Ltd Edition Lip and Cheek Dome, $40.

Apply a bit of illuminator across your cheekbone to highlight the look.

Try: Body Shop Lily Cole Ltd Edition Puff on Radiance, $45, in store July 2; Nars Highlighting Blush Powder, $59.

The lips are the main event of this look, giving a sophisticated edge to the youthful eyes and cheeks.

Choose your coral lip - either matte or gloss is fine - and make it last longer by applying a lip liner first.

For a more intense colour, line your lips all over.

Apply your lipstick with a lip brush for precision, dab off the excess on a tissue and reapply a second coat.

Try: M.A.C lipstick in Morange, $42; Estee Lauder Pure Colour lipstick in Coral Fantasy, $57; Revlon Colourburst, $24.
