Makeup & Skincare
Fashion designer Yvonne Bennetti is known for dressing some of New Zealand's most glamorous women. On her frequent business trips she often stocks up on international beauty brands.
Here's a peek into her stash of must-haves...
I use La Mer - it's my favourite crème. I love the texture and it is fabulous to use during the winter when my skin is dry
I use Sisley sunblock. It doesn't smell and it's very sheer. I use sunblock every day on my face and hands.
As for facials, I don't have much free time but I have a Clarisonic brush. It is great to use it claims to make your skin six times cleaner than regular cleansing. It makes you skin clearer, smoother and allows your product to absorb better.
I think the secret to good skin is to stay out of the sun, use a good sunblock and moisturise your face and body twice daily. I use hand and feet masks weekly. If you can get paraffin wax masks for your feet and hands it makes a noticeable difference.
I didn't become interested in makeup until I was in my twenties. I am not a huge makeup person but I am fussy about what I use.
My foundation is Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser. I use a base underneath called Guerlain Blanc de Perle. It is SPF30 and gives a luminous look to the skin. I don't use lipstick so much as lip balms. My favourite is La Mer. I use DiorShow Iconic Over Curl mascara. Underneath I use DiorShow Maximiser Lash Plumping Serum. I use a pale blusher, Laura Mercier Dune Bronze and concealer (YSL Touche Eclat.)
In my handbag I carry L'Occitane hand creme for dry skin and La Mer lip balm, as well as pink blusher by Laura Mercier to give a quick lift of colour.
I don't wear much makeup in the weekends just tinted moisturiser, mascara and a Laura Mercier bronze kohl pencil.
I use Farouk haircare - it really works for coloured hair and smells amazing. My favourite is the intense moisturise mask. I go to D & M salon in Herne Bay. My favourite stylist is Shannon, she's great with blonde hair
To keep my hair in good condition I use Farouk haircare masks and sometimes I shall get a keratin hair treatment at D & M. I occasionally use hot rollers if I want some volume.
I occasionally get a manicure and pedicure or Shellac if I am travelling or away for work. I like to get my feet bladed, which removes all of your dead skin from the soles of your feet. It takes an hour but the result is very satisfying.
For nail polish, I like Dior number 970 (a blood red) and Chanel 559 Frenzy, which is more nude. I use Chanel base coat and Chanel Extreme Shine top coat plus Mavala Quick Dry Spray.
FRAGRANCE & BODY
I wear Frederic Malle Lys Mediterranee. I also wear an oil that I had blended in the Middle East at a souk market. It has a plain bottle with no labels. I have no idea what is called but it lasts all day I shall miss it when it runs out!
On my body I like almond oil blended with essential oils. I usually make my own as I like it as scented as possible. I use lavender for night and jasmine for day.
I like L'Occitane almond oil for the bath and shower it has a silky texture smells divine.
At bath time I use Laura Mercier Creme Brûlée Honey Bath and I also like her almond coconut milk.
If I want to treat myself, I book a body massage and body scrub. I like Endemologie (an anti cellulite treatment) and a peel from Prescription Skincare, which gives instant results.
I believe in SPF daily on face and back of hands and neck.
On flights I remove all my make-up. As soon as I am seated, I use an eye mask I like Estée Lauder Stress Relief Eye Mask and Bio Elements Jet Travel mask. I also use a silk eye mask so I can sleep without being interrupted.
When it comes to discovering new products, I think Sephora is a great store to explore.
I can't live without L'Occitane hand cream it's great for your nails and hands. My best quick fix is a touch of concealer and lip treatment.
My worst beauty mistakes? I once bought coloured mascara and had my hair permed at the same time. It was a disaster. I kept trying to straighten my hair and it would just end up in a frizz ball!
The beauty product I wish they would invent is an instant dry nail polish that would save us from a lot of waiting around.
