The arrival of the warmer weather calls for a wardrobe overhaul, so why not do the same to your beauty routine as well?

While winter is synonymous with matte foundations and deep bold hues, there's no place for heavy products in summertime.

"Dewy and glowing skin is the way to go for summer" says Rhian Morris, makeup artist and national manager for Mecca Cosmetica.

"It just works so well for the warm season and looks nice and natural, not to mention it's easy maintenance."

But don't take the stripping back too far, you still want to look polished, flawless and healthy.

A bronzed summer glow is a quick and easy look to take you right through the silly season.

How to do it:

Prime: Primer will make your makeup application smoother and help it last longer in the heat. "Try an illuminating primer, it makes your skin look lit from within, and helps you to get that gorgeous dewy glow," Morris says. Try Stila One-Step Bronze, $76; The Body Shop Moisturise It Skin Primer $30.75;  M.A.C Prep+Prime Natural Radiance, $99.

Tint. "Matte and heavy complexions are hard wok in summer, they just melt off in the heat," Morris says. "Tinted moisturiser gives you light cover, hydrates, illuminates and will also protect you from the sun. Look for a tinted moisturiser with a high protection sunscreen and a nice dewy finish". Try Aveeno Positively Radiant Tinted Moisturiser in SPF 30, $24.99; The Body Shop All-in-one BB Cream, $39; Dermalogica Sheer Tint with SPF 20, $95; or for more coverage Dermalogica Cover Tint, also $95.

Fix up. Fix up any blemishes with your usual concealer, and then run a highlighter under the eyes to get rid of any dark shadows. Try M.A.C Prep+Prime Highlighter, $38; Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat, $76; L'Oreal Lumi Magique Highlighter Pen, $30.99.

Bronze. Add a healthy touch of colour to your face with a sweep of bronzer. "Bronzing all over your face will make you look orange" Morris says. "When you bronze, just contour around your temples, cheekbones and neckline for a more natural look". Try Nars Bronzing Powder in Laguna (the world's best-selling bronzer, it works on every single skin type), $72; L'Oreaal Paris Glam Bronze La Terra, $37.99;  or Australis Bronzing Powder, $21.

Just the basics: moisturiser, mascara, lippy.

The works: foundation, concealer, highlighter, bronzer - there's no room to list it all.

Nothing - what's the point?
