Power up your shower
Are you merely using your time in the shower to wash yourself, shampoo or shave? That's so last season!
Aim a little higher and you can multitask under the water in a number of interesting new ways...
1. TRIM DOWN
French spa brand Guinot has just introduced a Slimming Shower Gel, $35. It contains active ingredients caffeine, cherry stem extract and grapefruit essential oil, which purportedly help break down fat and eliminate toxins and water.
Lather up and let the product settle on 'area of concern' for a few minutes, then rinse off.
Our take: More convenient (and luxurious) than cellulite cream, but don't expect miracle weight loss.
Veet's In-Shower Hair Removal Cream, $15.99, contains water-resisting ingredients that are still effective when wet.
Apply it to dry skin and wait one minute, then hop in the shower. The cream then takes around another two minutes to work - simply sponge it off in the shower.
Our take: We love the new technology and the ease of use, but the smell of depilatory chemicals (which occur in all brands, not just this one) isn't much fun in a small shower cubicle. Dr Hauschka also make delicious bath oils, $53 - I love the lavender option for bedtime.
We've talked before about Nivea's new In Shower Moisturiser and they have just come out with a new version, In Shower Smooth Lotion, $9.49.
This one is scented with vanilla and musk, and works like the others - you apply it after washing your skin, and lightly rinse off (kind of like conditioner for your hair).
Our take: This new category of product is a really useful, time-saving innovation. It's particularly good right after shaving your legs, so you avoid a scaly effect when you invariably forget to moisturise after the shower.
