NAIL IT: Our favourite new season polish shades: from left, Maybelline Colour Show Stripped Nudes in Tan Lines, $8.49, L'Oreal Colour Riche Le Vernis Rock Metallic collections, $9.99, Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Coup de Coeur, $47, Essie The Neons collection in Bouncer It's Me, $22.99, and Orly Blush Collection, $24.99.

You might not be ready for winter clothes, but new nail polish shades are an easy autumn accessory to try. Here's what some of the biggest brands have in store now.

Sally Hansen Triple Shine Nail Colour, $12.99 (14 shades). Sally Hansen's new formula boasts a super shiny finish, and you can choose form iridescents, brights or glitters.

Essie The Neons collection ($22.99 each). Sometimes nail collections are timed for the opposite season - this is what Essie is peddling for spring in the northern hemisphere. But the blue and purply shades will be perfect for our colder climate.

Orly Blush Collection, six shades, $24.99 each. From nude though to coral, these creamy colours are subtle and sophisticated.

L'Oreal Colour Riche Le Vernis Rock Metallic collections, six shades $9.99 each. L'Oreal keep adding to their popular new nail range - this season there are five glittery shades and one cool jade. (On counter April.)

Maybelline Color Show Stripped Nudes, four shades $8.49 each. Choose the shade to suit your skin tone to pull off a super chic nail look.

Zoya Cashmere, Satin collection and Pixie Dust collections, each polish $23. We're always spoiled for choice with Zoya's offerings, especially the Pixie Dust formula (a cool combo of matte and shimmery textures).

Everyone looks to Chanel to see what the next 'it' hue will be. From the Spring 2014 range, there are two new polishes, Charivari and Tapage, each $47. And from the new Rouge Chanel collection of makeup, there is also one new nail polish, Coup de Coeur, $47.
