Don't you wish you could stretch like a cat? Just park yourself in the sun or next to a heater, and relax every muscle and release every joint? Today's Furry Friday is a lineup of cats at a stretch; scroll to the bottom and I guarantee you'll feel more relaxed just seeing them.

Covercat today is Smooch, here showing off a half-acre of ticklable spotty tummy. Thanks for the picture, Faye.

In a similar pose is Jo Jo...

Zeus has found and claimed the warm spot. Eventually he'll have to roll over and do the other side, but not just yet...

Zeus

That was Zeus, now meet Jupiter. Despite his heroic name, he's a little camera-shy.

Kiki takes over the bed. That's a rich-looking coat.

This big guy is Greg, laid out in front of the heater. Reader Hazel says: "He's a massive 9.5kg, proportionately twice the size of a normal cat and probably the biggest cat I've ever seen."

Greg

Luna was striding across the couch when it just became necessary to stop and sleep.

Reader Stacey sent this picture of her glossy friend Comet. Stick 'em up!

And a brace of embraceable kittens: Oscar on the left, Lillie on the right.

Harrison makes sure he has control of the remote, by stretching just that little bit further...

This beautiful snowy pair are Ziggy and Princess Althea. Don't you love the fur seam that runs down the chest and belly? Thanks for the photo, Sherryn.

Renee's tabby Jasper didn't quite make it on to the couch. Or maybe he did, but is gradually sliding off.

Reader Nikki says her tabby Rasta is a very lazy boy. Here he is at full length. Magnificent!

Matching pair Indie and Jazz are in need of a languid breather. Thanks for the beautiful photo, Carol.

Finally, reader Emma's cat Baxter has a rubber-spined stretch on a chair. "This boy contorts himself into so many odd positions when he sleeps and often looks like he has a smile on his face," says Emma. He leaves a smile on my face too.

I'm in Europe and couldn't sleep. Seeing all these blissful wee faces in dreamland has made me want to join them - thanks Furry Friday! It's still Thursday here though ;-)

Looking at the photos was such an enjoyable way to start a Friday. Thanks to everyone who sent them in.

So nice to see so many well-cared-for, loved, spoilt cats when the news has recently shown people at their worst-abusing animals. Restores some of my faith in (and hope for) the human race.

Our boy is 7 kilos, and long with it - last time he had a good stretch and wriggle, he occupied a full three quarters of the width of our queen size bed, and I got pictures to prove it! We have no leg room at night, but he's such a lovely kitty that you can't really complain...

Now all I want to do is stretch and fall asleep.....maybe not good look while at the desk at work!

Thanks for the gorgeous pictures - always a highlight of any Friday

These photos are just beautiful! My wee boy does good stretches when we are in the bathroom. Its his happy place, and when he lies down and stretches Im allowed to pat his belly! Its so beautiful

I always look forward to Furry Friday! Thanks for an excellent start to the day. Nick, I saw someone walking a wee rough-coated daxy this morning and thought of you and Connor. The daxy was very serious-faced but looked like he'd be fun when he was relaxed.

awwwww want to cochiecochie their tummies!! Our old cat would do this then latch onto your arm chewing - her idea of playing.. Cue racing round the room shrieking at the top of your lungs while trying to get the @%#&#$* critter off you! :P Was always funny to watch...
