Certain things cannot be resisted: bubble wrap comes to mind. But perhaps life's biggest irresistible is the tummy of a contented cat or dog, presented for the tickling. Here are some pet photos that'll make you want to reach out and give that soft fur a rub.
Today's covercat is young Hudson, who moved in with his family a couple of months ago and is now best mates with senior cat George - the two of them will feature in a later Furry Friday post.

Cassy's cat Bandito is feeling very secure.

Glamorous Merlin relaxes on the carpet. Love that furry seam that runs down the belly.

Today's Furry Friday represents a self-indulgence on my part: three of my pets are in it. Forgive me my act of pet-promotion, as I hope you'll agree the pictures belong in this lineup. This is Merrick, belly to the ceiling. You can tickle Merrick and he won't flinch a bit, but let's be honest: some cats don't like it so much and jump at the touch. Some will even give you a claw for your trouble...

Pugsley is in the half-reclined position.

Miss Piggy is in pug heaven.

These two guys would like to know what your problem is. Thomas is the couch potato, and Sven is the puss who looks as though he's waiting to be plugged in and recharged for the day. Thanks for the great photos, Audrey and Sara.

Rachel's pup Floyd, left, was just 20 days old when he was snapped. On the right is Dean's dog (can you give us his name, Dean), resting in a comfortable but exposed corner of the room.

Meet white-soxed Nyaya, left, and tabby Simba.

Two more tiny puppies: Meg the Bernese mountain dog and Connor the wire-haired miniature dachshund. Connor has grown up a lot but his underbelly is as ticklable as ever.

Midget naps in the entertainment centre...

Phoebe adores being rubbed, and presents her silky belly to anyone who looks as though they might be her friend. It's a great way of bonding.

This magnificent creature is Blue, aka Kitty. Owner Gigi says Kitty is an independent and self-sufficient lady, and you certainly get a sense of that in this photo.

Another soft tabby tummy is that of Max.

Here is reader Amber's much-loved Munky, stretching to stay in the sun.

Finally, another what's-your-problem pose, from Billy. Thanks for the photo, Geoff.

Thanks to all for posting your photos. Please email me your own photos, or leave them on the Four Legs Good Facebook page. And call in on the Facebook page to browse through the 800-plus photos that readers have left there. Have a belly good day!

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww they're all so cute. Especially love the pic of Simba - looks like he has a smile on his face!
Awww... I just want to kiss all those cute, soft little tummies. Bandito is especially tempting, haha. Gorgeous.
Invitation?... or WHISKERED BEAR TRAP?
It's obviously Furry Friday. All very gorgeous in their tickable tummy glory.
Yes, animal tummies are always very tempting to tickle. I'm sure as many animal lovers get as much pleasure from tickling a furry tummy, as the recipient of the tickles do.
Every time our ginger boy Puss turns tummy upward, I can't resist a tickle and this gets his "motor" going flat out, so much so, at tickling times, he almost sounds like a lawnmower!
My cats tummy is a death trap. It looks SOOO INVITING but then you get locked in, chewed and bunny kicked for hours.
The Ms have it mostly for me today - Merrick (well deserved to be there, Nick!), Midget, Max and Munky - but the absolute favourite this week has to be Simba - does cute get any cuter than that? I don't think so!
Haha, awesome. I love a good kitty tummy scratch.

In the immortal words of The Oatmeal: "I has been said that petting the tummy of a kitty is like frolicking in the back hair of an angel"
