Welcome to June, the month that, according to the show tune, is busting out all over. Also, June is currently zipping its hoodie, pulling on extra socks, and turning on the heater.
For us and our pets, June is a time of new focus, namely finding ways of keeping warm. There are a number of such ways.
First option: find the bit of watery sunlight that remains, ensure a blanket or rug is present, and find a friend. Ruby and Bon Bon have employed this option.

So have Stellar and Harlem...

...and Tigger and Zoe.

The sun has gone? Yes, it usually has. So find someone of like mind and similar appearance, and snuggle. I don't know the names of these "bichpoos" (Vanessa, can you tell us?), but they know how to keep themselves warm.

These cuddlers are (left) Burmese sisters Zan and Jayna, and mum-and-daughter Carmel and Tinkerbell (who are inseparable at their respective ages of 19 and 18).

I'll bet Staffies Billie and Annie create a power of heat between them.

Another technique for keeping warm as the June temperatures slide is to hijack someone else's sleeping place and bury yourself in it. Purrgeot liked this technique. (She was named for her loud-idling engine; sadly she's no longer with us.)

Possum's favourite spot in winter is within the folds of a duvet.

Another tortie-in-bedding is Isabella. Thanks for the photo, Glen, and sorry about the wait.

Bella sleeps modestly at the bottom of the bed - but in the morning she sneaks up to the pillow end for extra comfort.

Another heat-seeking method is to wander up and steal a bit of someone else's body heat. It's permissible because they get a little of yours too. Mac the kitten was able to get close to the usually more distant Mila, in the circumstances.

Katie keeps kitten Jimmy safe and warm.

Rescue dog Roger loves to snuggle with 16-year-old Siamese Nala; meanwhile, Asha and Sophie-Lemon are a sweet couple. I don't know about these two pet pairs, but in the case of my Connor and Merrick, who can often be seen snuggling, the closeness is always initiated by the canine partner.

More cuddling cute: Loco and Bailey (left) and Jaxx, Siha and Astrid.

Here are Rose, Lily, and somebody's sweater.

If a flesh-and-blood heat source is not available, then a toy will do. The handsome cat with his toy seal is named Titan; the Sphynx kitten is Pierre.

Maybe the best way of combating June's chill is to get as close as you can to the house's main heat source. Once your pet is in position, though, it can be hard to budge them. Meet Griffon Baxter and cold-averse cat Walter.

My pick for No 1 way of being warm in June? Get as ridiculously close as you can to a wood burner. The space just in front of a burner is incomparabe for sheer baskworthy comfort, as Gunny and Monty well know. (Gunny is a German Shorthaired Pointer.)

Hearth is where the home is: Summer the dog and Milo the cat.

Ziggy and Rosie love the heat blast too. Imagine how warm Ziggy's fur is right now...

No heater? No fire? Then the next-best human-made mechanical heat source may be dad's computer. This furry error-message is named Stacie.

A laptop is good for ensuring both warmth and attention. Ngeru is getting both.

Kaylee has a spot among the office peripherals. Not sure if she comes with a USB lead, though.

Finally, the beautiful Keller has claimed her own half-square-metre of heated office space. Keller was adopted as a sightless kittten from the SPCA. Reader Genevieve says, "We were warned by a few about the perils of taking on a blind cat, how hard it would be, and I'd never had a cat with any sort of disability before." But reality has been different. "She fully holds her own with our other four able-bodied cats and has the meanest double ankle tap in the house if you're slow feeding her. She navigates so well that people often question her diagnoses. She can still climb up on to the favourite furniture and knows perfectly well where food and litter trays are."

Ohhh they are wonderfull photos..... thanks for the lovely start to my Friday morn Nick and all the other mums and dads!
Awesome Furry Friday. Griffon Baxter is definitely my favourite today but that is an awesome story about Keller. Just awesome
Now that the weather is becoming colder, Barney the retradoodle is spending even more time outdoors. Or alternatively (and more annoyingly), going in and out all the time. I don't know if it was because he was born in June on an orchard, or because of his hugely fluffy coat, but he relishes the cold. If it's raining as well, so much the better. He deliberately lies down in puddles, and if we visit the beach, he runs down to the shore and immediately lies down in the water. If forced to stay inside, he lies on the tiles, which afterwards are very warm to walk on, or goes behind a window and leans up against the glass. One bonus of his hotness is that for the first 20 minutes or so when we go to bed, he lies in the middle of it, then shifts down to the foot. Makes for awkward sleeping positions, but he's a great (if very hairy and wriggly) hot-water bottle.
Adorableness! I laugh at the wood burner pics - mine used to love the wood stove.
Aww Keller is just lovely. Good on you for taking a blind kitty that many other people would overlook. :)
Love seeing interspecies cuddles too. Wish my lot would do that..
Why is it that cats love to sit on laptops when you are using them! My cat, Frank does exactly the same thing and just looks at me like this is mine now. He's lucky he's so beautiful!
Yay my Mac and Moo (aka Mila) made it! He was so little then, now he's a fair bit bigger (and heavier, so on a strict diet!) than her.
Apart from my furbabies (because everyone is always so biased towards their own!) I think my favourites are Zan and Jayna. Though I must say some of the dog and cat pairings are very very cute too, and most impressive that they get on so well!
Fantastic photos.
So cute! Both of my feline critters have taken to battling me for the bed (queen size) and generally they win. The younger (Nala) has a new trick of going outside, getting icey cold paws, squirming down under the covers next to me and warming her feet by placing all 4 on me. Shocking way for me to wake up but she just loves it!! Baxter and Pierre have got to be my faves for today.

Super cute Furry Friday today!! They all look sooo happy with themselves. I know all too well how cats in particular manage to find the warmest places.
