The adventures of Sarcasm-Ninja

I'll admit it.  I've always wanted to have super powers.  I've tried moving stuff with the power of my mind. You know, when the remote control was just out of reach.  If called upon to sing the theme song to The Greatest American Hero I could probably remember all the words (sidebar - this was probably the best TV theme song ever, closely followed by The Littlest Hobo).  I look forward to Mondays because Heroes is on and if the winners of Stuff's Heroes competition are anything to go by then I'm not alone.

As I recall, the eighties was a great time for superheroes.  The aforementioned Greatest American Hero had what I, at that time, considered to be the best hair on television (I know, but it was the eighties, okay?).  I both feared and loved Bill Bixby with his hulk-a-rific green eyes and torn shirts and jeans.

By comparison the nineties was a dark time for superheroes marked as it was by the presence of terrible Batman sequels and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers but in the 21st century X-men, Spider, Bat and Superman all made a triumphant return.  Being super has never been hotter.

If you, too, have a secret longing to discover that you are from another planet/a genetic mutant/ever so slightly radioactive then yearn no longer, for the internet will provide.

(warning, extreme time-wasting hazard ahead*)

Get your Clark Kent-ish self to the Hero Machine and customise your very own super-self.  Crazy leggings, lightning bolts, wings, capes and all other manner of hero accoutrements await.  Don't forget to get your own superhero name too.  Then go that one step further and upload photos of your super-self to Pikistrips and make your own comic strip.  If it turns out well, post it in a comment so we can all have a wee look, okay?

Just make sure you use your newly found powers for good and not evil.

*I take no responsibility for negative consequences that may result from excessive time-wastage.  If you get busted it's your problem.

Best TV theme song, ever? ChiPs! Nothing has ever come close to the funky bass line and honking horn section that signified the tight trousered arrival of Jon and Ponch.

Thanks for the suggestion. Had a blast with this today. Here is my attempt. Uber Gadget Girl and companion - iPod! Have shared this with other librarians at my workplace. I think they will get a kick out of it too: http://bp2.blogger.com/_vuTPOjcCz28/RyacOIiCpUI/AAAAAAAAADQ/AbCWejxGO1U/s1600-h/ubergirl_dreams+copy.gif

Well done Uber Gadget Girl! David Tennant is nice alright but he might cramp your style.

I think my ultimate Superhero companion would be Carson Kressley. He would make me look very bad-ass by comparison but tres, tres stylish. He could carry my super-handbag and would make sure I had no VPL showing through my leggings.

Agree about the Greatest American Hero. Fantastic theme song and a good show. Of course I was watching it for the gorgeous Connie Sellecca. Just watching your linked clip makes my heart go boom boody-boom boody-boom boody-boom Boody-boom boody-boom boody-boom-boom-boom (http://www.last.fm/music/Peter+Sellers+%2526+Sophia+Loren/_/Goodness+Gracious+Me)

Hey Muppie, I checked out the CHiPs theme and it is indeed a stonking disco behemoth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lz7hHeoGkuA however it loses points for singability. In order for it to be truly great theme song, you have to be able to sing it in the shower. Sorry.
