The Commonwealth Games are officially open and the ceremony was, of course, a fire work fueled, multi-coloured, synchronised-dancing riddled explosion of Scottish culture.

But really, all you need to know about it is this: each country was loaned a Scottish Terrier in a little tartan vest with the name of the country on it.

Now go and pass out with the cuteness of these images while the national anthems of 71 nations rings in your ears.
