Pooch Selfie: The ingenious invention for taking dog selfies video

Pooch Selfie/Kickstarter

Jason Hernandez has invented a device that make sure dogs sit still for photographs.

Can't get your dog to sit still for a photo? A US man has come up with an ingenious solution.

Jason Hernandez of Clever Dog Products in San Diego has invented the Pooch Selfie to ensure pet owners have their dog's full attention when it comes to photo time.

The astonishingly simple device allows a squeaky tennis ball to be mounted on top of a smartphone and works with both front- and rear-facing cameras and for portrait and landscape shots.

Hernandez said he had searched far and wide for a way to create a picture perfect moment with unpredictable pets. Then he realised he could simply and effectively remaster the "sorcery" held by the humble tennis ball.

"I had a face to palm moment. I thought, "why didn't I think of that? Then I realised, 'oh yeah, I did, just now ...'"
