Missing moggie returns home after five years
A cat that disappeared after the Christchurch earthquakes has returned home after five years.
Julie Gorman thought her cat, Tom, was gone forever when he disappeared from her farm after the September 2010 earthquakes.
He did eventually return, but would not settle after the February 2011 quake and disappeared again after several aftershocks.
"I went around the farm calling for him and walked for ages calling and calling, and he never came back. It's very strange."

On Thursday night, Gorman heard her roosters crowing outside and a faint meow when she went to look.
"I was very delighted. I picked him up and thought he might be wild and bite me, but it was just like the cat had never been away.
"He came back in, larger than life, a lot skinnier and with a broken tail that's mended with a bit of a scar on it.
"He ate and ate and ate, got up into the hot water cupboard where he used to sleep, stayed there all night and was on the bed with the dog [Friday] morning."
Gorman said there was no doubt in her mind that it was the same cat after he reclaimed his home.
"It's the same cat, I know it's definitely him because he dribbles, and he dribbled copiously over me last night."
Gorman said Tom "must've gone semi-wild" for the past five years, but now aged 10 had decided to return to domestic life.
"I don't know whether he'll stay, but he looks pretty comfortable.
"I suspected that someone else had been feeding him, but I think I was wrong, because he would've been in better condition . . . but he's not too bad."
