Pet of the day: Missy the office dog
I work at MRL Power Solutions, a generator supplier based in Lower Hutt.
For the past couple of years, our office has been brightened up by an unpaid intern: Missy, a 5.3kg Jack Russell, with a touch of fox terrier in her.
Missy has been coming into work with me ever since she was a tiny three-month-old pup. It didn't take her long to settle in and become part of the furniture.
Missy loves to greet all our visitors, usually checking them out with a few sniffs. She is a very loving, friendly happy little office companion.
Although she's not much of a guard dog, she also patrols the yard outside, giving the seagulls in nesting season target for dive-bombs.
When she's not confined to the office, Missy also comes out and about with me. She accompanies me on most of my appointments, whether it's delivering generators to a customer's site or just getting my nails done.
When she's back in the office, Missy can usually be found curled up in her bed. She keeps things pretty low-key and you don't really notice her - until there's a knock at the door, that is.
Dogs like Missy are great pets and companions. She has been the perfect addition to both our family and our workplace. Everybody just loves her. Oh, to be that popular, eh?
Surely every office in New Zealand would benefit from a dog like Missy?
