Best & worst dressed celebrities

THE BEST: Emily Blunt is a straight-up fox in red Prada. I love the contrasting pops of pink, as well as the unusually pointy strapless neckline (like a sweetheart on steroids). PS: This woman had a baby in February #fitspiration. Oh, to have four personal assistants, a trainer and a private chef ...

THE WILD CARD BEST: When I first saw this in thumbnail I was all "Angie-is-wearing-a-rubbish-bag" and ready to plop it in worst, but in looking through the hundreds of photos of her on the red carpet I did a 180 and decided I love it. The dress looks like leather but is rubberised silk, and it was designed by Atelier Versace. I adore that it is not just one big ball gown but is actually a sleek column dress just with a dramatic waterfall of material that gathers at the hip. I think the other thing that makes this a best is her simple styling - a ponytail was the perfect choice here. Plus, it is in keeping with her character in Maleficent, and I dig that she did the whole press tour for the film basically in red-carpet-appropriate costume. PS: This dress is also giving the ladies Lara-Croft-the-early-years proportions. Va-va-voom.

THE GOOD: This is not a "wow-really-pushing-boundaries" look, but it is a really pretty, lovely gown, and sometimes that is just what the doctor ordered. The ice-cold-stunning Lucy Liu is wearing a navy Carolina Herrera, which features really interesting geometric embroidery (I love how it expands as it runs down the dress). She seems to have also obtained an up-do mid-event (ah the benefits of having your own hairdresser).

THE GOOD: Liya Kebede is one of my favourite models of all time so I may be a touch biased, but I just adore this Wes Gordon Resort 2015 look on her. Chic, simple and classy.

THE GOOD: This Ralph Lauren column gown is perfect for Shailene Woodley (who is posing here with her movie mum - Laura Dern, love her! - and movie boyfriend). She has an un-fussy, not-super-girly vibe and so a minimal shape in a bold colour seems to suit her personal style perfectly.

THE ROYAL: I am fairly neutral on this jacket, but I thought I would chuck it in for all you Duchess of Cambridge enthusiasts (especially those of you who get angry when I call the royal Kate Middleton. "How very dare you call a woman by the name she received upon birth"). This jacket is by Jonathan Saunders, which is cool, as she is in Scotland and he is a Scot ... and I actually really like it in the long shots, but in all the close ups I just find those chest stripes a bit retro-airplane-chair-upholstery.

THE BAD: Meet Rainbow Brite, the adult film edition. Seriously though, if you were the brand manager for this hair colour remover Colour B4 you would love Katie Jordan Price. She is actually wearing a headband crafted from packets of the stuff. Can you imagine MAC or the like asking someone like Ange Jolie or Cate Blanchett to do that for them? There would be dagger looks ahoy. So, bless Katie for just admitting the only reason she is being photographed is to promote a product and so just going full-throttle branded publicity stunt.

THE BAD: Yes, you can see her stripy knickers - but VP is now run-of-the-mill in the world of celebrity red carpets, so, meh - however the thing that makes the ensemble of Eliza Doolittle so fantastically terrible is the curtain-chic knot at the back. Very I-left-the-loo-in-a-rush-and-so-am-now-sporting-a-train-of-Purex. Also, those shoes? They remind me of the foot-candy-horrors I discovered when I once stumbled upon a shop filled exclusively with bags and shoes designed by Paris Hilton. It was awful.

THE BAD: Courtney Love is really putting the corset in her Vivienne Westwood gown to work - with more polished makeup and slightly less inflated-looking cleavage, this could have been a win for the Hole rocker. Currently it is a no.

THE BAD: This get up looks like it was bought on some dodgy Facebook fast-fashion site (the type where the clothes look mmm-kay in the photos, but you just know they are going to arrive all flammable and crooked) but no, it is actually a very expensive look. Mariah Carey is wearing a Versace dress and silver Chanel gloves (can we all just agree now that fingerless wrist-length gloves and sparkly ball gowns should never mix?). Her makeup is a win however.

THE BAD: Ms Bounty Hunter, Beth Chapman, appears to be wearing scales. Also, her hair continues to be phenomenal (as does the crispy orange mullet atop the head of her husband. It looks like it would just snap to the touch it is so bleach-weary).

In this week's round up of red carpet fashion Angelina Jolie takes a real risk, Emily Blunt wows, Kate Middleton is regal in red and Jordan, well, she's Jordan-like.

We haven't touched upon the amazing CFDA event in this gallery, as we were all over that here. Oh, and check out our new Best Dressed Of The Month menswear gallery. The consensus seems to be that Ryan Reynolds is alpha this time 'round.

In this weekly fashion fest we only bring you the horrors and the hits from the red carpets and only cover events where celebrities know they'll be snapped and critiqued for their fashion (so no Britney leaving Maccas in her trackies.) Why? Well because all humans - even celebs - should be allowed to look rubbish while packing a Quarter Pounder (testify!).
