Rising style star: Nicola Peltz
THE DRAMA: Due to the unavoidable bridal connotations, wearing a full length white dress on the red carpet can go one of two ways - either an unforgettable fashion moment is created or, well, the girl in question just looks plain desperate. The young Transformers star manages to execute the tough look with ease, not once but twice. On the left she shows off her sophisticated approach to fashion in a stunning long-sleeved Stella McCartney gown. The lines of the dress are downright gorgeous, and the open back adds just the right amount of sexiness. On the right, Nicola poses up a storm in a dress earmarked for a big event from the second it hit the Giambattista Valli Couture Fall 2013 catwalk, and she absolutely nails it. The laissez-faire up-do and smouldering makeup counteract the frou-frou nature of the dress and I'm loving her simple silver rings.
THE FASHION FORWARD: She may be new on the style scene, but Nicola appears to be well-versed on the commandments of front row fashion if these outfits are anything to go by. The actress made an uber-chic entrance to the Louis Vuitton show at Paris Fashion Week in March captivating style bloggers the world over in a gorgeous aubergine cape and bang on trend over-the-knee boots. Fast forward two months and the 19-year-old took her place alongside big names like Rihanna and Marion Cotillard at the Christian Dior Cruise Collection show, (the girl sure isn't short of chi-chi invites) in a sophisticated Dior tuxedo dress no less.
THE ETHEREAL MIDI: Two Stella McCartney LWDs, two undisputed style wins. While some have criticised these outfits labelling them dull and uninspiring, I'm all for pinpointing which style and colour suits you and wearing them to death. There's no doubt Nicola looks stunningly pretty in both these looks, and although the sheer skirt trend is somewhat overdone on the red carpet, I really can't fault her for wanting to show off her enviable pins. She's doing it in an understated and classy way after all.
THE BOLD ACCESSORY: While she tends to stick to minimal, modern ensembles, the Transformers star clearly knows the way to take an average outfit to the next level - a pop of colour. Exhibit A: A simple, printed fit and flare dress paired with nondescript nude pointed pumps is instantly elevated by Nicola's choice of bright envelope clutch. Exhibit B: Granted, this Saint Laurent shorts and blazer combo is a bit so-so for a film premiere, but the statement red lip adds some necessary drama and pulls the look together.
THE EARLY MISSTEPS: Proof that even the most stylish young stars have off days - this pair of gaudy ensembles leave a lot to be desired. On the left Nicola attempts to add a touch of flair to what is essentially a cherry red, satin puffa jacket, and on the right, well, the Fausto Puglisi dress isn't terrible, but this colour combo and plunging halter neck feel a tad too Barbie-esque with her blonde locks.
THE COLOUR: After numerous monochromatic red carpet moments, it's refreshing to see the rising fashion star in some colour. For the Transformers New York premiere Nicola opted for a shimmering blue strapless Balenciaga gown finished off with her signature wavy tresses and a smoky eye. I'm not completely sold on the draped bustle-like detail on the back of the dress, the fabric seems far too bulky and it makes the ensemble look more dress-up than couture. However, Nicola pulled off the embellished Prada number on the right with aplomb - she looks like a movie star, and surely that's always the goal.
