When anticipating a Chanel show, visions of towering sets, rings of salivating spectators and out of this world hair and makeup spring to mind.

But this time the showstopper came in the form of heavily pregnant Kiwi model Ashleigh Good who closed the Fall 2014 couture show in a stunning baroque-inspired wedding dress.

While various models have graced the catwalk sporting visible baby bumps in the past, the 22-year-old Chanel muse has set a new precedent by stepping out during what appears to be her third trimester of pregnancy.

Some may label Good's runway moment as an attention-seeking stunt - Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld is infamous for causing something of a ruckus for his controversial statements after all - but there's no doubt it's thoroughly refreshing to see a high-end fashion label celebrating the pregnant form.

According to style.com the Kiwi model's lap around the Grand Palais was a "mutual decision between Lagerfeld and Good, who has become a part of the Chanel family in recent years."

The England-born, New Zealand-raised beauty took to Instagram to voice her joy at being part of the show, captioning a runway shot with, "Today was so special for me and my little girl! An absolutely beautiful show and always proud to be part of it."

Good, who was discovered at a Mairangi Bay bus stop, has walked in the Chanel show the past nine seasons and Mr Lagerfeld is said to regard her 'aristocratic beauty' in the same light as legendary model Stella Tennant.

Our take on Good's most headline-grabbing saunter yet? She looks truly elegant and the gorgeous gilded white empire-neck gown fits her magnificently - it was the perfect way to end the show.

Maternity-wear may be about to get a whole lot chicer, not to mention more expensive.
